Sneaky Days

So I've just been plugging along, half-paying attention to how many days until I go home, and for some reason, I've just been sure that I have like, three-and-a-half weeks left.

But surprise! I go home in two weeks! And in two weeks and two days, I will be going through the temple. For those who (like me) can't do math, that's 16 days!

It totally snuck up on me.

I also made the pleasantly surprising discovery that my friend's invitation to her wedding includes the option to be in the sealing room with her and that I can actually be there, since it's about a week after I go through.

So so so excited.

Sorry for the minimal updates. I'll try to give more information on life soon. :)

Elementary, Dear Watson

The new Batman movie comes out today. In honor of that, here's a little comic.

PS: This made me laugh so hard when I saw it.

Peace

Peace is finding the answer that you didn't know you needed at the moment you need it most. And realizing that the answer is exactly what you need.

I'm grateful that the Lord gives us answers when we ask for help. It may not be what we thought we wanted, but it's always what we need. And I'm always surprised when a tiny sting of disappointment produces a feeling of overwhelming peace immediately afterward. That doesn't happen every time, but it did tonight.

I have been blessed in a million ways, with all the people and things that I need most.

Everything else is just icing on the triple-chocolate, extra-fudge, enough-sugar-to-send-you-straight-to-heaven cake.

Fear

Ever find yourself just giving in to irrational fears? Yeah, me too.

I've been thinking about it a lot today. Why do we get afraid? What do we really have to lose? Especially for me, I really don't have a lot at stake. There are so many things that I'm absolutely sure of. My family's love, my friends' support, my knowledge of the gospel. I can't lose those. Not really.

And, to be honest, no matter what I've gone through, it's always, always been worth it. More than worth it.

Just a reminder to myself.

Favorite Hymn

So, after many years of deliberation, I think I finally have a favorite hymn.

This is, incidentally, also one of my favorite arrangements of it.

I love this hymn for many reasons. For one, it brings back some very beautiful memories of Tunnel Singing at BYU (yes, yes, I did it. Just not as a freshman). For another, we sang a simply gorgeous arrangement of it for the Davis County Conference. I was singing in the choir, and we had the once in a lifetime opportunity to sing from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir seats in the Conference Center. Singing this song to all of those people was a sacred experience. That was also the day that the Lord let me know that it was time to go through the temple, so everything about that day has become so much more special to me.

Through all of my ups and downs, this song has always brought me peace. It has also always filled me with a profound sense of gratitude for a Heavenly Father who is constantly trying to draw me nearer to Him. I am so blessed.

Happy

Ever had one of those moments when you get dropped off on your doorstep, go inside, and then just lean against the door and squeak a little with delight?

I'm a happy girl, tonight. ^_^

Love to See the Temple

My interviews are scheduled, my plane ticket is purchased, and I'll be in Texas to share one of the biggest moments of my life with my parents.

This is where I'll be on August 11th, at 11:00 am. So, so, so, so happy. :)

Symptoms

Sunburn.
Torn up feet.
Aching muscles (All. Over.)
Dirt under the fingernails.
Ruined pedicure.
Bruised knees.
Scratched arms.
Bug bites.
Hair smelling of campfire and lakewater.
A s'mores-and-burgers food baby.
Compulsive napping.

Doctor's diagnosis: Obviously the aftereffects of a run in with the AwesomeWardCampout virus. Activities that may induce this virus include, but are not limited to: Rock climbing, hiking, falling in the stream, running across gravelly beaches, diving into chilly reservoirs, getting thrown off a floating trampoline, pigging out on bonfire food, and generally doing all kinds of awesome things with others in a ward campout setting.

Bonus: I racked up a few Epicness Points on this trip for being the first girl up the boulders at the waterfall, and the first one to sprint over the beach and dive into the reservoir.

Needless to say, I'm exhausted, my body is plotting a riot in protest, and I need food more substantial than marshmallows in a desperate way, but I haven't been this happy-tired in a long time. Well worth all the box-elder bugs crawling on me all night.

To bed now. Happy sleeping!
